A bot that asks whether you need AI at all

Right now I have 2 projects where founders decided they need AI in their company before they ever asked whether they actually need it. 🤔

Aside from TrueBDD, a spec-as-source tool, there's my day job: I'm Co-CEO at Speed and Function where we've been building software for other companies for years now. And along the way the team put together a small bot that does something pretty simple: if you've never stopped to think about whether you really need AI, or whether you really need to implement anything at all, it asks you the questions that push you toward that.

Most people just don't have this question in their head yet… I know this because I myself am one of them. 🙃 When I come up with an idea, I start implementing it before I even stop to check whether it's necessary, or whether there's any business justification at all. So in a sense we built this bot for ourselves, just to remind us to think before we build. The bot starts pulling it out of you, and you find the answer for yourself.

One thing I'd keep in mind: its final verdict, need it or not, is not the truth, and I wouldn't read it that way. It's food for thought. While you answer its questions, you find the answer for yourself, whether you need it, or at least you find the path where to do the math to get there. 🛠️
