# Kent Beck and the human side of software

Just listened to Kent Beck reflect on 50 years of building software. What stayed with me: he spent the first part of his career trying to become the best programmer he could be — because that's what he was told mattered. And then, in his words, "surprise, there's this whole human side."

AI is writing code faster than any of us can read it. But the trust we build with a teammate when we struggle through a hard problem together, the understanding that grows when we really listen to a user — none of that gets faster. None of it gets automated.

AI is AI. People are still people. And the human part is still the hardest, most beautiful part of this work.
